I had the pleasure of speaking this week at the Financial Planning Association of San Francisco roundtable:
“How Local Advisors Are Running Their Practices”
📍 San Francisco Italian Athletic Club
📅 March 17, 2026
It was a great discussion alongside fellow RIAs on how our businesses — and our roles — are evolving in real time.
A few of my key perspectives:
→ Portfolio construction should be built for all markets — not reacted to.
We focus heavily on asset allocation, designing portfolios to protect in volatile markets while still capturing growth. While we may fine-tune along the way, we’re not making drastic shifts or running to cash during turbulent periods — the plan is built with those environments in mind.
→ Efficiency and client experience matter.
From the very first touchpoint, we guide clients through a highly streamlined, tech-enabled planning process. Simple, organized, and effective — for both the client and the firm.
→ “Alternatives” don’t have to be complicated.
For our clients, we use a “specialty” allocation (up to ~10% depending on risk tolerance) — including areas like precious metals, commodities, energy, crypto, real estate, and sector funds via ETFs and mutual funds. Accessible, transparent, and purposeful.
→ The role of an advisor goes far beyond the numbers.
Yes, we build plans and portfolios — but more importantly, we help clients answer:
What do you want your life to look like? Every conversation has an emotional component, because ultimately we’re helping people reach their goals, dreams, and version of a meaningful life.
Grateful to be part of a profession that continues to evolve — and to contribute to conversations like this.
We’d love to help you reach your goals and discuss what you want YOUR life to look like. You can schedule a strategy session to talk about your unique situation and how we might be able to help. If you are a current client, contact us for a personal review of your situation at info@astifinancial.com.
