Our Financial Planning Process
It all begins with a phone call. You can schedule an strategy session to ‘meet’ and discuss your specific situation and needs. If all sounds good to you, we move forward to a virtual meeting – either as a paid hourly meeting or an initial consultation for comprehensive financial planning clients.
All clients will be asked to complete and send in an asset questionnaire before our meeting, so we have time to review and get familiar with their situation.
Hourly-Only Clients ~
For our hourly clients, we set up a 1 or 2-hour meeting to address their specific questions/issues. This is best suited for clients who ‘just need an answer’ or have a specific financial issue facing them that they would like addressed. They don’t need a comprehensive financial plan; they need help with something specific, such as doing a portfolio review and rebalance or crunching numbers on a new home purchase. We don’t schedule a complimentary meeting for hourly clients as our meeting is focused on getting them specific, actionable advice with customized recommendations.
Comprehensive Financial Planning Clients ~ Developing your Plan
Every plan starts with a complimentary consultation –
Because this is such an important decision in your life, we want you to feel completely comfortable with us. In this complimentary 1-hour meeting, together we’ll discuss the areas that will be included in your project. Although we discuss all areas of financial planning we can assist with, YOU control the scope of your plan. Once we have determined all the areas to be included in your plan, we provide you with a proposal for your planning project. This is YOUR plan! You can make changes, add or remove information so that we end up with a project scope that matches your exact needs.
If you decide to engage our services, we’ll then gather detailed financial information/documents to begin working on your plan. We schedule virtual meetings throughout the planning process to discuss progress on your plan, get clarifications or additional information and share planning insights.
Your final plan is delivered to you 6 to 8 weeks after the engagement via an interactive presentation where you can ask us any and all questions.
The end result is a detailed, actionable, customized plan for your financial future.
This is where the project engagement ends. From here, we stay in contact with you via our communication calendar so we can keep your plan on track and updated for the future. We recommend meeting annually to review any changes and make adjustments to your plan to keep you on track as your situation changes. You can learn about fees here.
